Mechanical Designer
Vanrx seeks a Mechanical Designer with experience in the design and development of electromechanical systems to join our highly collaborative team in Burnaby, BC.
We are looking for a resourceful and experienced individual to be a part of our engineering team. The Systems Designer will participate in electrical and mechanical system design using 3D CAD design software.
A technology diploma or Bachelor degree in the Mechanical or Electrical discipline, as well as a proven track record in the design of advanced and cost effective mechanical products is required.
Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Designer will work with the engineering team to design, prototype, fabricate, assemble and test mechanical systems consistent with the Product Requirements. Responsible for mechanical assembly design, fabrication drawings, as well as some subsystem assembly and performance testing in accordance with project plans.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Participate in mechanical design, verification and validation to ensure process requirements are met.
• Assist in the systems engineering, including analysis and design, of all aspects of a machine, such as but not limited to: system accuracy, cycle time, vibration, thermal, metrology/instrumentation, reliability/maintainability.
• Participate in the systems integration of systems for which he/she has design responsibilities.
• Perform hands-on testing of designed apparatus to mitigate high technical risks (i.e. proof of principle and engineering studies).
• Responsible for specification documents such as: Functional Specification, Design Specification and Acceptance Test Plans.
• Participate in mechanical, electrical and software design concept reviews.
• Coordinate and communicate with fabrication and assembly outsourcing service providers to meet project timelines.
• Work with the project team and Systems Specialist to solve design and process related problems.
• Responsible for maintaining design changes.
• Conduct acceptance tests and approve third party equipment.
• Review machine performance from internal factory acceptance tests conducted on prototype machines.
• Participate in the commissioning of prototype machines.Job Requirements:
• Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics or similar.
• At least five years experience in a design role of complex electromechanical products, components, etc.
• Track record of high performance leading to the timely delivery of designs and projects.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks
